A Message from the Editorial Board

Welcome to Arabic and World Literature: Comparative and Multidisciplinary Perspectives (AWL).

Literature has never been a solitary monument; it is a living, breathing conversation across time, place, and tongue. Yet too often, Arabic literary traditions are studied in isolation or measured against Western canons without reciprocal curiosity. We founded AWL to change that.

Our journal provides a dual-language forum, in both English and Arabic, for researchers willing to trace the bold intersections between Arabic national literatures, global literary theories, and the ever-evolving currents of world literature. Published annually, we are particularly committed to the poetics of Arabic literature: the fertile interface between classical and modern, written and oral, standard and vernacular.

We believe that Arabic literature is not a detached branch of world letters but a trunk and a root. By exploring its relationship with its global sisters, Arabic and World Literature Journal (AWL) aspires to be a blazing trail, offering a richer understanding of how literature reflects, and indeed shapes, human culture and human destiny.

We invite you to submit your work, join our community, and help build a new crossroads for literary studies.

With warm regards,

The Editorial Board of AWL
